The paradoxical truth

Have you ever helped someone?

All of you would have at any one point of time or another...

Donated money?

Perhaps..

Both acts seems normal, and mostly widely accepted as good deeds. Whilst that's the truth, it just may not be absolute.

Allow me to draw a picture for you.

The bible says "let not your left hand know what is your right hand giving"..in fact, that is precisely the meaning of philantrophy. However, world leading billionaires have made it public about what they do and where they give the money, most of the time not denying themselves the publicity. So what's their main motive..of course, with all due respect, they do want to help people. I mean, come on, what are you going to do with that shitload of money. But helping may NOT be their main motive.

Let's come closer to home..

When i was going through a bad patch of time, i've had friends who helped me..2 groups..one who gave money so indiscretely that i didn't know where the money came from. One even slotted money into my shirt(you know who you are!!)..and there are those who gave money in full view of others.

The 1st group, of course, is pretty obvious. They just don't wanna have the attention, whilst the others need it..so what's the truth?

Even compassion works in the bi-polar...Some even act on compassion in seasons..but that's another blog altogether

I for one, have always, almost always, have accepted things at face value, the way they are..but the underlying truth behind every action, is no more the absolute truth

Almost everything, has a motive..

Nice write up..goons:)

Can i empty my head a little?
hope i am not preachy here:)

Matthew 5:16 and 1peter 2:12 shares a similar sentiments about doing deeds. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

But in Matthew 6:1 and 23:3-5, Jesus speaks against doing good works in public.

So the question is, should we let others see our good works, or not?
i think the answer is very simple and not complicated!!

Under some circumstances, when it is condusive to the glory of God we SHOULD get out action noticeable, and under other circumstances, when it is not condusive to the glory of God we should NOT let the right hand know what is the left hand doing.

The problem is not that the act is performed publicly, it’s that the primary motive for the act, self-centered..

I believe, any good work which a Christian does in public ought to be done in such a way that God, and not the human benefactor is praised.

If we give or do a good deed in order to receive admiration from people, we are not really giving with open hearts, but for an ulterior motive which is somewhat self-centered. That would be bad.

We have to ask ourselves? Are you a self centred person? if the answer is YES... than almost everything has a motive .....

My take on this is, does the person who needs the money get the money??

Does it help a soul overcome his or her circumstances? If it does,I think we should not be too bothered about what the benefactor's intentions are. That is for him and the Lord to deal with.

Looking into motives and such can can be quite tiring. Most of the time we are just making wild guesses. Very often these guesses are also marred my our own preconceived ideas, insecurity, jealousy, envy, judgement ..etc..

Like what the Lord said, he who has not sinned, be the first to throw the stone at the adultress..

Now, which one of us is perfect?
